Starting a designer bag collection

If you’re anything like me, you most probably spend the majority of your day (everyday) looking at bags on Net-a-Porter, flicking through Selfridges app and browsing through Harrods.  Not only just looking at the most affordable clutch bags and totes but the extravagant Chanel designs.  Although my handbag collection is still fairly small, I love all the items which I have and like to think of them as ‘mini investments’.

Neverfull MM:

My first ‘high end’ bag was the Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM which I had wanted for years and treated myself to it last year.  I still remember the hapiness that I felt when buying this bag and handing over the money, I felt so excited to finally own my very own designer bag and this is pretty much where my love for bags started!

When I went into the store all I knew was ‘I want the classic Louis Vuitton bag’.  The sales assistant in the shop helped me makeup my  mind.  I purchased the bag with the cherry red interior and the monogram canvas exterior.  What I didn’t realise when I bought the bag, was that it also came with a removable small pochette clutch.  The mini clutch bag has recieved a lot of wear and easy to pair with pretty much any outfit.  I have worn the Neverfull to death, and use it to travel abroad, as an everyday work bag or whenever I need to carry clothes to my boyfriends house.  Although I did love this bag when I purchased it, I have realised that zip bags are more convenient and I would love to get at some point the Keepal which is more suited to travelling.

Gucci Red Bucket Bag:

This was a treat from my boyfriend for my birthday, so it’s very special to me and always gets kept in its duster bag when not in use.  I never thought I would be the kind of person to like bold coloured bags, but this bag made me realise that a bag really can make a statement and be a pop of colour to an outfit!  I also find that the bucket shape is very practical and that bag is able to fit a lot inside, although I would like to get an organiser to place inside the bag to keep everything a tad more in order! The bag can be worn by the two handles , which I prefer to do especially when it is heavy, or can be worn as a cross body bag with the long strap for extra convenience.  Although it does come with the strap, I would’t recommend over using it, as it can make the bag appear to be very ‘heavy’ looking and hang in the wrong way. I would also love to get this bag in black as more of a work appropriate bag as this bag has had so much use, so I think I can justify another purchase.

This bag has the old Gucci logo rather and has the small ‘GG’ imprints in the leather rather than the large ‘GG’ logo which I do actually prefer as it’s not so ‘in your face’, although I do understand that other people may like the ‘GG’ logo.

Speedy:

The Louis Vuitton Speedy handbag was a very spontaneous purchase.  I walked into Selfridges with the intention of only buying something from Louis Vuitton for my mum.  However, I ended up walking out with not only her present, but a spontaneous bag for myself.  Although I really wanted this bag before I had purchased it, I feel as though this bag is a bit ‘over hyped’, purely down to the lack of structure inside the bag.  I bought the bag in the smaller size, as my Gucci bag is slightly larger and I wanted this bag to be more of a casual every day bag.  I purchased the bag without the strap, as when using my Gucci bag I very rarely wear the strap and carry it from the handles.  I reckon I will enjoy using this bag more when if I was to purchase an organiser to be put inside the bag.

Black Gucci Bag:

This was another little treat from my boyfriend which was bought with the intention to be worn at the Epsom races.  This bag is very deceiving in a good way as you can fit sooo much inside this bag.  I was able to fit a shawl, large purse, sunglasses case, makeup and extra bits.  This is such an easy bag to either dress up or down and in my opinion can pretty much be worn to any occasion.  Although this bag is very new, I already know that this bag will receive a lot of wear and will be worn as a convenient yet stylish bag.  Again, this bag can be worn with the adjustable strap for convenience, or be carried by the handles.

At the moment my collection is still small, but I look forward to growing it  Please do let me know if you have any of these bags of what you think is a bag ‘must have’!
